Front Cover Update 2

Since my last update I have added a placeholder picture in the background, added the bar code in the bottom right and also added a cover line with subheading to accompany it.
The cover line refers to the skyline as it says 'King'. The cover line is also a play on B.B King's name.
The photo in the background is black & white

AS Coursework Proposal Table – Stage 2

Describe your idea for the brief:
My Idea is to fill my magazine with old Blues & Jazz because it hasn't really been done to its full potential. It also doesn't attract to the younger audience. I aim to change that.
Genre/ sub genre: list similar texts which have inspired your thoughts
I have picked my genre of jazz and blues because I think there is a gap in the market when it comes to this genre of magazine. I have not seen any of its type on the shelf and I think it is a real opportunity to capitalise on the growing interest of Jazz
Target audience: gender/ age/ characteristics/ behaviour
I aim this at all ages but hope to focus on teenagers-young adults. This is because I think the youth of today need educated in what music really is. I aim this mainly towards men but do not run women off.
Major conventions I will use
The main conventions that I will use will be the most important conventions such as the masthead, cover line, main image and some of the essentials such as the bar code, date and issue number and also price on my front page, and for my context page I will use again a masthead and cover line along with context boxes.
Conventions I may subvert/ change/ not use
Other conventions I may use could be things such as a sky line and bubble text box to help my magazine have a professional look and so that page looks complete and not so boring and plain. However I do not want it too look cluttered
Original images: what/ where/ who
For my image I was going to take a picture of my brother playing the piano. He will be wearing a suit and hat and it will be in black & white to simulate it being in the past. I will take this picture in my house next to a white wall for easy cropping.
Potential difficulties/ Plan B:
The biggest difficulty for me is trying to find a target audience, and which age I should aim it at. However I aim to make it attractive to the younger generation.

Magazine Front Cover Update 1

This is my front cover so far. I have created my logo and skyline and have linked them both to the genre of my magazine.
Firstly I have made my logo in the style of the Blues Brothers logo because they are very significant stars in the blues genre. I have also included in my logo a very iconic microphone as it also links with the time period.
My Skyline will draw the target audience in as it includes a referance to B.B King; A very reputable artist.
